Heywood Brake Van in 1:12… Part 3

Just a quick update on the Brake Van project. Cad work is completed on the basic superstructure framing for the Brake Van. The first drawing below shows the seven primary components of the cab framing.

Basic components of superstructure frame

Drawing below shows detail of joinery work between main components plus the ship-lap planking on the van sides. All major components are joined via mortise and tenon joints. The four pillars mortise and tenon to the Van frame and are locked in place with pegs.

Rendering below shows the superstructure frame with planked sides in place on the Van frame and floor. Not included yet in the rendering is the small molding that framed the outside edges of the side-planking within the structural framing.

The last rendering gives a clearer view of the superstructure framing in place without the side planking.
