Iron Lady of Pain Rebuild Update…

Earlier this month we were finally able to retrieve some of the key items for the Iron Lady of Pain that had been stolen just over two-years ago. Among these were the frame and springer front end. The frame is a vintage Jammer product that I had previously modified for a rear disk brake with remote master cylinder. Immediately prior to their theft I had been working on both these items for the rebuild. I had removed the chrome plating from the front end, abrasive blasted the components and finished the desired reshaping. I was in the process of machining all the pivot points for new bronze pivot bushings. I was also abrasive blasting the frame to remove the old paint and body-filler molding in preparation for welding work on all the joints and additional modifications to move the battery mount and change the oil tank. These items were in basically a raw form when stolen.

Unfortunately, as the pictures below show, the items had not been properly stored over the past two-plus years and appear to have been exposed to the elements. As a result, they have rusted, though fortunately, it appears to be only surface rust and should clean up well though not without a lot of extra work.
